After a series of red-eye flights and meeting up across various airports, this year’s Open Heart International (OHI) Papua New Guinea (PNG) team is looking forward to starting the first cases bright and early Sunday morning. The local staff have set up the ward like previous trips and the OHI team are finalising everything in theatre and intensive care to ensure everything is up and running for surgery.

Everyone is excited to get working with the local staff as well as meeting the patients and their families. After a couple of unforeseen cancellations previously, the team is a mix of old and new faces which are all getting to know each other. Special thanks to all the sponsors and fundraisers helping make this trip (and others) in PNG so very well supported with resources. It has been a great welcome to PNG for the team, stay tuned for more soon…
