Nepal Shawl Stall

Volunteers who return to Nepal year after year to provide specalist medical care are running a stall selling Nepalese shawls. Purchasing items from the stall will directly fund the costs of patient care for 2014.

The stall will be located outside San Café between 10am – 1:30pm on Wendesday the 7th of August.

Open Heart International provides specialist surgery to release burn scar contractures in Nepal, where burns injuries are alarmingly high. Recent population-based estimates by the World Health Organisation reveal that in Nepal one in every ten women of reproductive age is suffering from uterine prolapse. In developing countries, this can lead to social isolation, abuse and abandonment.

The average cost to provide life changing surgery to a burns patient is $1,000 per patient

The average cost to provide surgery and dramatically improve the quality of one woman’s life is $300.
