Farewell Tonga

This fortnight we have had 29 surgical cases ranging from 4 months to 59 years of age, weighing in as little as 4.7kg to 126kg. A huge thank you to all the amazing 49 volunteers that helped pull off this project.

It has been an action packed fortnight with functions running every second night, early mornings, problems and challengs, and of course some island adventures and whale swimming in between the cases of 29 patients in 11 full operating days.

The pack up has commenced which is sad because we are leaving after becoming so close to not only the other volunteers but to the local staff over the past 14 days.

I think it is safe to say, on behalf of the team, that Tonga has certainly delivered on the hospitality and friendliness. I am confident that every volunteer will leave here with more than a handful of great new friends. Everyone is already talking about Tonga 2017 and excited about the future projects.
