Cambodia Cardiac Project Ceasing Home » Tales from the field » Cambodia Cardiac Project Ceasing Posted on 23 June, 2016 Open Heart International’s last cardiac surgery visit toAngkor Hospital for Children (AHC) will occur in October 2016. We have recentlybeen advised that AHC has made a decision that they can no longer sustain nor further develop a cardiac surgery program. This decision was made by their board based on a number of factors including financial restraints and human resourcing deficiencies. We are disappointed and saddened by this development, but after spending time discussing the issues with the Hospital’s management we are understanding of how and why they have come to this decision. Angkor Hospital for Children is deeply appreciative for Open Heart International’s support that has saved the lives of many Cambodian children and increased the capability of their staff. We are looking forward to using our visit in October as a celebration of what has beencollectively achieved. We are open to re-engaging with AHC if the cardiac program was everre-established, and also to working with on other health programs in the future. Tags: Latest News,
