Life outside of work Home » Tales from the field » Life outside of work Posted on 23 March, 2017 This morning a group of volunteers decided to hike the foothills of the Himalayan trail for the 5km walk to work at the hospital. Dr Lisa Robinson, and nurses Kathy Stayt, Chris Cain and Lorraine Craig pose and smile for the photo before the steep incline begins which gets the heart rate pumping. It is a hard walk but almost necessary with all the carb heavy diet we consume each day…every meal comes with a combination of potatoes, rice or noodles. The team usually has a 30-minute lunch break sitting on the lawns of the hospital away from the hustle and bustle of the cafeteria. To support a local orphanage, a cook is contracted to prepare the yummy meals we enjoy each lunch break. It is a special time for team bonding, debrief and general chit-chat at lunch. Here stories are exchanged of the day’s activities and cultural idiosyncrasies of working alongside our Nepalese colleagues and lots of laughter too. The scenery is beautiful with the surrounding hills and colourful Nepalese housing dotted along the hillsides in the background. Tags: womens-health,
